Have You Changed and Grown Through the Years?

This was the first home that we bought (this was while it was being built.) It had white brick and was in the Spanish style. The inside was in blues and avocado greens. We had wrought iron furniture. It had a tiny kitchen. I had wallpaper put in the kitchen and thought it was real kool! After all, if you had wallpaper back then, you were up-town! Ha! We were so excited as we watched them building that home. We went every day to see what they had done. I thought that it was wonderful, because it was the first time I had ever owned a home! Now when I look back, I see that I have come a long way since then and... I never want avocado in my home again! I lived with it a long time. A lot of things have changed since then.

I love the brown brick on my home where we live now. It is such a warm color. My home is done in taupe's, blues and burgundies, mainly. I hope eventually to change out the counter tops in my home to a taupe color, being that it is such a soothing color. For years we only had white walls, but I am sooooo enjoying all the taupe on the walls and the white woodwork now. I was sick of white walls.  Isn't it funny how our taste changes over the years?

I find that I not only have changed in my decorating, but in many other areas of my life also. What colors do you like and how have you grown through the years, not only in your decorating but in your life?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your love of color and the changes of your life with me.

I miss my blue and white checkered wallpaper in my old house on Durango Street! I loved the peach and hunter green patterned wallpaper in my first home on 105th Drive! Ah...memories! I love the house. What a beautiful classic look! Thanks for sharing! Anne

Rita,
I've gone through so many decorating styles it's hard to even remember them all! And don't get me started on the hair-do's! LOL!

I can so relate with you re avacado or gold or orange ...

Whoa! It would take a day to share all the changes in my life, both materialistic & inward.

The biggest 'change' in my life, one of them at least, is that as a red head/child I was deprived of the color pink 'because red heads don't wear pink', I quote. I am SMOTHERED in pink in every room but one, in my home.

Hope you are safe & not affected by these horrible storms, Rita.

Have a graet eve ~

You have a beautiful home! My tastes have definitely changed over the years. I too never want to see advocado green in my home again! When the kids were young I wanted minimalism, easier to keep tidy! Now I love a more cottagey, eclectic style, definitely more homely! Love your blog and will pop back to visit soon!

We lived in our previous home for 35 years, and most of the neighbors were there for that long too..Whether the back fence, the middle of the street (when the kids were little) or the front porch, the visits were always treasures..
