Over the Fence
Now, what woman doesn't love to gab with her neighbor over the fence? I have two very good neighbors that I love to visit with, be it over the fence or sitting in a lawn chair. We love talking about our kids, our homes, our grandkids, the weather, good things to eat, pets, on and on and on! Sound familiar? We never seem to run out of things to talk about. Is that the woman in us? Don't you love neighbors like that?
Friends come into our lives and we value them like treasures. They add value to our lives. They are there to help us laugh and they are there to help us cry. Even if that friendship is only for a season, it is well worth the time to cultivate it.
When we moved to east Texas, my daughter-in-law asked me, "Mama, what are you going to do? You are leaving all your friends." I told her, "I'll make new friends!" You see, I grew up in a Military family, so we were used to moving and making new friends. Everyone was accepted, for you were all in the same boat and you all had to make new friends. And yes, I have made new ones since I've been here.
We have good neighbors on either side of us and when we get our patio finished, I can invite them to come and sit a spell, offer them some lemonade, cookies and if it's cool even a lap-quilt for their feet. I've already met them "over the fence" and I look forward to meeting them now on the patio when we get it finished. It's always good making new friends!
Make a new one today and thanks for stopping by.
Rita

Hi Sweetie...
Oh how I wish we could talk over the fence, and then run right on around and have a cup of tea together. We could sit for hours just chatting.
Love your share tonight. Have a beautiful Memorial weekend sweet one. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
I do remember those talks over the fence. There was just something about hanging on it and gabbin'..getting eaten by bugs and all. Why didn't we just over and sit at the kitchen table where it was bug free.
Now in our area, people keep to themselves, the only thing we share over the fence is climbing ivy. I miss those days gone by.
Great post, sure got my mind charged up this AM.
I remember 'hanging out the window' jabbering away with the neighbors. Great share, Rita ... every word so true. C'mon over, we'll have some lemonade & watch the birds ...
Have a beautiful weekend.
